Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
Patient education is a big part of what we provide here at Skyline Dental in addition to hands-on dentistry services, because the more a patient knows, the healthier their teeth usually are! Below, we’ve gone ahead and answered some of the most common questions we receive every day. After looking over this page, if there is anything else you’d like to ask, go ahead and give us a call—there are no silly questions!
When is it time for a checkup and cleaning?
Dr. Henkin recommends that people of all ages should attend at least one checkup and cleaning every six months, even if they aren’t experiencing any dental issues. These routine appointments enable our team to catch and treat minor issues as early as possible, plus professional cleanings can go a long way in preventing cavities and gum disease from developing in the first place.
Can I bring my children to Skyline Dental?
Yes! Dr. Henkin and our team are happy to treat patients of all ages, and that includes any growing smiles you might have at home. Here, we’ll do everything we can to keep your child comfortable while we protect them from cavities and ensure they grow up to have a strong, healthy smile.
Do I really need to replace my missing teeth?
Yes! When there are gaps in the smile, the remaining teeth are likely to shift out of place, and the gums are much more susceptible to developing an infection as well. The end result? Pain, dysfunction, and usually more tooth loss! To prevent this from happening and help patients rebuild their smiles, Dr. Henkin can provide dental implants, a state-of-the-art prosthetic that’s able to restore an entire tooth and last for decades on end.
I haven’t been to the dentist for a very long time…can you still help me?
Yes. Even if you can’t remember the last time you went to the dentist, you are still welcome at Skyline Dental, and you can trust we’ll provide the care you need and skip the lecture that you’ll get at most other dental offices. If you’re dealing with multiple decayed, broken, or missing teeth, Dr. Henkin can use a full-mouth reconstruction to restore the health and beauty of your smile all at once.
Can I straighten my teeth without getting metal braces?
Yes! Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligner trays to shift the teeth rather than brackets and wires, and when worn, you can’t really tell a patient is undergoing treatment! The aligners are easily removable as well, meaning patients can maintain their same diet and brushing habits. Would either of these treatments be a good fit for you? Give us a call to find out more.
